Historia obiektu:
Stadion Robotniczego Klubu Sportowego „Skra” Warszawa powstał w miejscu zajmowanym przed II wojną światową przez Klub Sportowy „Warszawianka”. W latach 1923-1939 „Skra” posiadała stadion przy ul. Okopowej. Tutaj swoje sukcesy osiągali m.in. Irena Szewińska, Marian Woronin, Jacek Wszoła, Teresa Sukniewicz, Grażyna Rabsztyn, Ewa Kłobukowska, Tadeusz Ślusarski i Władysław Kozakiewicz. 21 października 2020 r., czyli rok później, urząd nadzoru budowlanego w asyście policji i straży miejskiej przeprowadził egzekucję, w jej wyniku wszystkie obiekty klubowe włącznie ze stadionem zostały zamknięte. 28 stycznia 2021 r. Sąd Apelacyjny podtrzymał wyrok nakazujący wydanie miastu kompleksu sportowego „Skry”. Obecnie planowane są tu prace porządkowe i zabezpieczające, a w dalszej przyszłości – przebudowa i modernizacja obiektów sportowych.
Today I invite you to the current photo gallery and YouTube movie from urban exploring of the abandoned stadium of Polish sports club called RKS "Skra" Warsaw.
History of abandoned place:
The stadium of the Workers' Sports Club "Skra" Warsaw was built in the place occupied by the "Warszawianka" Sports Club before World War II. In the years 1923-1939, "Skra" had a stadium at ul. Okopowa. The area of the first facility was a gift of the Municipal Office of the Capital City of Warsaw, intended for perpetual use for sports purposes. After World War II, the Warsaw Reconstruction Office allocated the destroyed area to other public purposes. As compensation, "Skra" received land at ul. Wawelska 5, where it appeared in 1946. In the years 1948-1953 the stadium was rebuilt. In 1953, a horseshoe-shaped stadium with a cinder track surrounded by stands with seats for 35,000 spectators was put into use. Additionally, in the area of "Skra" there were training pitches for football, volleyball and basketball, tennis courts and a very wide organizational and leisure facilities. In 1969, the first artificial tartan surface in Poland was laid at the stadium. A number of sports events were organized here, including the Memorials of Janusz Kusociński and Jerzy Michałowicz. Here they achieved their successes, among others Irena Szewińska, Marian Woronin, Jacek Wszoła, Teresa Dresseswicz, Grażyna Rabsztyn, Ewa Kłobukowska, Tadeusz Ślusarski and Władysław Kozakiewicz. In the years 1966-2005, it housed the Museum of Physical Culture and Tourism (later the Museum of Sports and Tourism), and until January 2018, the Central Sports Medicine Center was located. In 1974, the club's management took over the complex under a perpetual usufruct agreement for another 40 years, and after the expiry of its validity, efforts were made to extend it unsuccessfully. Currently, the "Skra" stadium is falling into disrepair. In October 2019, the Poviat Building Supervision Inspector issued an order to close all real properties with the pain of immediate enforceability. On October 21, 2020, i.e. a year later, the construction supervision office assisted by the police and city guards carried out an execution, as a result of which all club facilities, including the stadium, were closed. On January 28, 2021, the Court of Appeal upheld the verdict ordering the city to release the "Skra" sports complex. Currently, cleaning and security works are planned here, and in the future - reconstruction and modernization of sports facilities.
